University of Alaska Anchorage(UAA) is a public research university located in Anchorage, Alaska. It was founded in 1954 as Anchorage Community College and became a four-year university in 1976.
UAA is the largest university in Alaska, with enrollment of over 17,000 students annually. UAA offers more than 100 degree programs, including undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs, in fields such as business, engineering, education, nursing, and social sciences.
The university also has a strong dedication to research and is home to several research centers, including the Alaska Center for Energy and Power, the Center for Behavioral Health Research and Services, and the Institute of Social and Economic Research.
University of Alaska Anchorage has a variety of extracurricular activities for students, including over 150 student clubs and organizations, intramural sports, and outdoor adventure programs. The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) campus is located right at the heart of Anchorage, Alaska, with stunning views of the Chugach Mountains and the Cook Inlet. The campus is spread out over 250 acres with over 20 buildings, including academic buildings, residence halls, and recreational facilities.The school’s campus environment is student friendly and includes a food court, bookstore, art gallery, and movie theater, meeting rooms and lounges for student organizations.
The campus also includes several recreational facilities, including the Alaska Airlines Center, a state-of-the-art sports and entertainment arena, the Wells Fargo Sports Complex, which includes a gymnasium, pool, and ice rink, and the Student Recreation Center, which includes fitness equipment, a climbing wall, and basketball and racquetball courts.
