The University of Delaware (UD) is a public research university located in Newark, Delaware. Founded in 1743, it is one of the oldest universities in the United States. UD is classified as a research university with very high research activity by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. It is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU) and the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

UD offers more than 300 undergraduate and graduate degree programs across seven colleges and schools, including the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Education and Human Development, the College of Engineering, the College of Health Sciences, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the Biden School of Public Policy and Administration. The university also has a number of interdisciplinary centers and institutes, including the Delaware Environmental Institute and the Institute for Public Administration.

The university has a diverse student body of approximately 24,000 undergraduate and graduate students from all 50 states and over 100 countries. UD offers a wide range of student organizations and clubs, including academic and professional organizations, cultural and diversity groups, and recreational and athletic clubs. The university is also home to a number of NCAA Division I sports teams, known as the Blue Hens.
