What is Walden University Known For? Rankings, Acceptance Rate, Scholarships, and more

Walden University is an online university, privately owned for profit, with its headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The University was established by two New York teachers, Bennie and Rita Turna, in 1970. They created the program for working adults who wanted to earn a doctoral degree but needed help through normal universities. The school then took its first class in Naples, Florida, focusing mainly on school administrators. In August 2021, Adtalem Global Education purchased the University.

Walden University is an internationally accredited institution by the PMI Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education program and by the Higher Learning Commission in 1990, which is an accreditation agency for institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

This prestigious institution has an urban setting with a campus size of 61 acres. It utilizes a semester-based academic calendar. Walden is one of the most flexible graduate universities in the country, with one of its most popular being its Nursing Graduate School. Walden University offers over 80 programs in seven colleges and one school, including science, engineering, business, and public health.

Walden University pairs the resources of a large research university with the benefits of an online tertiary college. Small class sizes are the norm, and faculty members are accessible and approachable. At Walden, the average class size is 21 students, with a student-to-faculty ratio 19:1.

Students are automatically admitted into any college of Walden University when they are admitted. No additional application or barrier is required, as there is room in every major, and students have two full years to pick a major. The 80+ majors at Walden are dispersed among its seven colleges and one school.

Getting admitted into Walden University is typically a walk in the park and advantageous as they have both physical and online degrees and classes. Meeting their GPA requirements is also required to prove your academic preparation.

At Walden University, ACT or SAT scores are not required for the admissions process. As a result, the University does not have a test-optional admissions policy.
