The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) is a public research university located in Fairbanks, Alaska, United States. It was founded in 1917 as the Alaska Agricultural College and School of Mines, and it became a university in 1975.

UAF is the flagship campus of the University of Alaska system and is a land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant institution. It offers more than 170 degree and certificate programs in fields such as engineering, natural resources, business, education, social sciences, and arts and humanities.

The university has an heavy focus on research, particularly in Arctic studies, including climate change, permafrost, and sea ice. It also houses several research institutes, including the Geophysical Institute, the Arctic Region Supercomputing Center, and the Alaska Center for Energy and Power.

UAF has a diverse student body of around 7,000 undergraduate and graduate students from all 50 states and more than 60 countries.
