The University of South Dakota (USD) is a public research university located in Vermillion, South Dakota, USA. Established in 1862, it is the oldest university in the state of South Dakota.

The University of South Dakota offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs including humanities, law, healthcare, business, economics, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics across its six colleges, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Beacom School of Business, the School of Education, the School of Health Sciences, the School of Law, and the School of Medicine.

The University of South Dakota School of Law is the only law school in South Dakota and offers a Juris Doctor (J.D.) program as well as a Master of Laws (LL.M.) program.

The University of South Dakota is committed to providing its students with a well-rounded education and has a small student-to-faculty ratio which ensures that students are provided with personalized learning and attention from the faculty.

The University of South Dakota also offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, including over 200 student organizations.

The university has a strong athletic activities with its athletic team The Coyotes competing in the Summit League and Missouri Valley Football Conference, and have a strong tradition of excellence in other sports such as basketball, football, volleyball, and track and field.

The University of South Dakota also places strong emphasis on research and scholarship, and provides its students with numerous opportunities to engage in research.

The university has a number of research centers and institutes, including the Beacom Institute of Technology, the Center for Brain and Behavior Research, and the Center for Disabilities.

The university also has several outreach programs, including the Small Business Development Center, the Community Counseling and Assessment Clinic, and the South Dakota Public Broadcasting Network.

The University of South Dakota is the only public liberal university in the state and is home to the state only law and medicine school.
