George Mason University is a public research university located in Fairfax County, West Virginia. It was established in 1949 as a branch of the University of Virginia in the northern Virginia region. After ten years, it was renamed to honour the founding father of the United States; George Masonans became an independent university of its own in 1972.

George Mason University has four campuses in the United States, and all are located in Virginia. The Arlington Campus is situated on 5.2 acres right in Virginia Square, an urban environment close to Arlington County and Virginia’s Clarendon business district. The campus was founded in 1979 after the school acquired a law school. The school also has a Science and Technology campus that opened on August 25, 1997. More than 4,000 students are enrolled in classes in bioinformatics, information technology, and forensic biosciences educational and research programs.

 The international campus in Songdo, South Korea’s Incheon Free Economic Zone, is a 42,000-acre site that Opened in March 2014. It is located 25 miles (40 km) from Seoul and is connected to the Seoul Metropolitan Subway.

George Mason University Scholarship

GMU awards millions of dollars in scholarships to freshmen every year. These awards recognize strong talent and achievement. Most GMU scholarships require one to be enrolled full-time and are not necessarily based on enrollment loads.

All freshman applicants who apply by November 1, which is the Early Action application deadline, will automatically be considered for merit-based scholarships through the Office of Admissions and the Scholarship Committee. These early applicants are notified of their admissions decisions by mid-December, and the Scholarship Committee further briefs students if they qualify for the scholarship by February.
